Kasargod: The district commissioner and higher officials from the police department here have decided to implement special checking on border areas in the wake of assembly elections from April 4 to 6. The checking will be joint operation conducted by various departments; it was decided in a meeting conducted here.
The officials stated that the arrangement has been done to ensure transparent and peaceful elections in the state. The higher officials from different departments from Mangaluru, Kodagu, Kannur and Kasargod participated. Further, it was decided that the checking will be made compulsory in borders and police, excise as well as revenue department will jointly conduct the operation. The officials have also agreed on passing information about permanent accused to each other.
The meeting comprised district commissioner Dr. D. Sajit Babu and police commissioner P.B. Rajeev among others.
