Kasargod: The police have arrested three people for smuggling 240 kg of ganja in a tourist bus on Friday, May 28.
The arrested have been identified as Moidin Kunhi (28) of Periadka, Mohammed Rahis (23) native of Chengala-Menangod, and Mohammed Hanif (41) from Berka-Cherakala.
The police entered the house where one of the accused, Mohammed Hanif, was a tenant and seized a gun, machete, and other lethal weapons. The police also searched the homes of the other accused.
A police team led by DySP PP Sadanandan stopped a tourist bus at Chettungal, Vidyanagar, and seized the drugs after conducting a thorough check of the vehicle.
“The bus that was being operated after obtaining a special pass from the RTO amid lockdown was being used to transport drugs,” one of the police officials informed.
