Kasargod: Manjeshwar MLA A.K.M. Ashraf has stated that there is no intention to change the names of villages in the district from Kannada to Malayalam, and that the reports on social media are not true.
On his Facebook page, Ashraf added that he sought confirmation from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s personal assistant and the district’s Deputy Collector, both of whom stated that no such proposal is being discussed.
He went on to say that the situation might have worsened as a result of misspelt village names on some ration cards.
