Kasargod: An elderly woman who was staying in an Old Age Home in Kasargod has been united with her family members.
Maniyamma (75) was handed over to a government-run old age home in December 2018 by the Pink Police Patrol.
Maniyamma who was travelling from Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru in a bus to visit her daughter got down in Kasargod as the bus stopped there. She later could not identify the bus she was travelling in and was left wandering in the bus stand. The Pink Police Patrol who spotted her brought her to the old age home.
Maniyamma was not able to speak about her relatives and her address, which left the officials with no choice but to leave her in the care of the old age home. The Kasargod Legal Services Authority and the officials of the old age home with the help of Tamil Nadu’s Tittagudi police, managed to track the address and details of Maniyamma’s relatives.
After a meeting held at the Kasargod Legal Services Authority office, the officials decided to hand over Maniyamma to her family members. District Magistrate S Manohar Kini handed over Maniyamma to her daughter.
Secretary of the Legal Services Authority Prakashan P T, Superintendent of the old age home Pankajakshan and others were present.
