Kasargod: “The district will be transformed as the first district of Kerala to be free of Tuberculosis (TB) by 2020”, said Deputy Commissioner Dr. D Sajith Babu, here on Saturday, March 23.
He spoke on this in the inaugural of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day programme organised in the General Hospital premises.
Sajith opined, “TB has turned into a social evil which is wide spreading. We shall all come together to put an end to it.”
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest of the programme, retired Indian track and field athlete Dr. P T Usha said, “The disease is unpredictable and it can be cured only through awareness and proper treatment.”
She pronounced the oath to fight against TB in the programme.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. V P Dinesh presided over the programme.
District Information Officer Madhusudhan M, District Social Welfare Officer B Bhaskaran, Superintendent of General Hospital Dr. K K Rajaram and others were present.
Meanwhile, senior doctor of General Hospital Dr. B S Rao was felicitated.
Superintendent of Police James Joseph flagged off the marathon event and rally which was conducted from New Bus Stand to General Hospital.
