Accused gets lifer in 2018 sexual abuse against minor case

Kasargod: The Additional District Court on Wednesday, December 4, sentenced an accused, in connection with a case of sexual assault against a minor, to life in prison.

The accused in the case is V S Ravindran (46), a resident of the Karivedakam village, who has received the life sentence and been charged a penalty of Rs 25,000.

This is said to be the first ever case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, after the amendments were made.

It can be recalled that in October of 2018, a four-year-old girl went to the accused, Ravindran’s residence to play, following which she was sexually assaulter by him.

Around 22 pieces of evidence and 23 documents were produced before the court during the trial.

The case was filed in the Bedadka Police Station and DySP Harishchandra Naik had filed the chargesheet.

Prakash Ammanaiah was the prosecutor in the case.
