Kasargod: The Manjeshwar police have arrested five Sangh Parivar members involved in a violent protest against the women's entry into Sabarimala Temple sanctum, here on Saturday, January 5.
The five are accused of pelting stones at the police and trying to assault them during the protest in the city. They are Vasanth Shenoy, Keerthan Shetty, Pramod Kumar and Vikram.
Also, cases have been filed against more than 100 protestors.
The protestors had set the tyres ablaze on the Warkadi-Morattane road.
The Manjeshwar police had rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, during which the protestors from the Sangh Parivar have obstructed their duty and assaulted them.
The prime accused Naveen (50), a resident from Morattane has also been arrested.
The search is on for others involved in the violent protest.
