Bengaluru: At least nine people including three children were killed and over 50 people are believed to have sustained grievous injuries following a head-on collision between a tempo and a cement tanker in Yadgir district early Tuesday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred near Ramasamudra village in Yadgir taluk when the cement truck coming from Raichur collided into the tempo that was returning from Shahpur to Ganapur village in Yadgir after attending an engagement function at Bhimarayanagudi in Shahpur taluk.
The death toll in the mishap is likely to increase as many of those injured are said to be in a critical condition.
The police personnel immediately rushed to the spot and with the aid of locals those injured in the mishap were taken to a district hospital, while the critically injured have been taken to a hospital in Raichur for medical treatment.
