Yadagir: As many as 196 people tested positive for COVID-19 and one person died from the disease on Saturday, May 23. The state’s tally has jumped to 1939 cases and the death toll has risen to 42.
Yadagir alone registered 72 cases and Raichur registered 39 new cases today.
The death was reported from Bengaluru Urban. Patient 1270, a 32-year-old man from the district, was admitted to the hospital on May 19 with complaints of breathing difficulty, having comorbid conditions and emaciated, the state health department’s bulletin stated. He died on May 23 following a cardiac arrest.
The other cases have been reported from Gadag (15), Chikkaballapura (20), Kalaburagi (1), Dakshina Kannada (3), Hassan (4), Bengaluru Urban (4), Mandya (28), Davanagere (3), Kolar (2), Belagavi (1), Uttara Kannada (2), Dharwad (1), and Udupi (1).
It can be noted that of the three cases reported from the Dakshina Kannada district, one had committed suicide a few days ago and his test reports came back positive on Friday night.
Of the 1939 cases reported from the state, 42 are deaths, two are non-COVID caused deaths and 598 are discharges.
