Udupi Police to help kids fight the Blue Whale

Udupi: As the Blue Whale Challenge deadly game continues to claim lives at an alarming rate in the world, in order to give awareness to the students, the district police has formed a special team and will counsel children against the killer game from next week , said Dr. Sanjeev M Patil, Superintendent of Police, Udupi district.

During his 4th phone-in weekly programme on September 9, he told media persons that even though such deaths due to such deadly games like the Blue Whale Challenge had not been reported in the district, the district police had planned to give awareness on the game through various means like banners in every schools. The district police will ask the school managements to decipher information on the impact of such deadly games to the students, he informed.

There were 26 calls taken today and mostly calls were with regard to illegal parking of vehicles, matka, public disturbances by drunken people, illegal mining, illegal alcohol selling, sale of ganja, traffic disturbances and so on.

Dr. Patil said that during the past week there were 14 matka cases registered and 17 people arrested. “Three cases of illegal betting were registered and 18 people arrested. With regard to illegal sale of alcohol, one case was registered and one person arrested.

Several issues of cheating with regard to some people speaking in Hindi asking for the code and password of bank accounts and the ATM have been brought to my notice and members of the public should be aware that such phone calls are made by fraudsters. No person should give any detail of the bank account or ATM to anybody. In such cases members of the public should share such phone numbers at the nearest police station”, he said.
