Udupi: In an unfortunate incident a lorry driver who was standing on the roadside was killed on the spot after being sandwiched between two parked lorries, while three others suffered serious injuries in an accident that took place on the national highway way at Yermal here on Saturday August 19 night.
Madhav Laxman Karali (40) is the deceased.
According to reports a fish-laden lorry was on its way to Malpe from Mangaluru when the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a parked lorry here. Owing to the impact of the collision the stationary truck moved ahead and collided against another parked truck. An unfortunate Madhav happened to be standing at the spot and was crushed to death.
The driver of the fish-laden lorry two other persons standing nearby too suffered injuries in the accident. They were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time due to the accident.
A case has been registered at Padubidri police station.
