Udupi: “The Iftar party organised at Sri Krishna Matt has hurt the sentiments of Hindu Community. Lord Krishna is known as Gopala, protector of cows but the Paryaya Sri Viswesha Theertha Swamiji has invited the beef consumers into the premises of Lord Krishna,” said right wing leader Pramod Muthalik.

Speaking with media persons at Udupi on June 26 regarding Iftar Souharda Koota held at Sri Krishna Matt, Muthalik said that Pejawar Swamiji is the guide to whole of Hindu Community and he had led Vishwa Hindu Parishad. “We respect him but holding Iftar Souharda Koota in temple is unacceptable,” he added.

Muthalik said that such programmes should be held outside the Matt and there would be no objections. He questioned if festivals like Ganeshotsava, Sankranti or other Hindu festivals had been celebrated in the mosques. “Then why should we allow their religious practices to be a part of our temples?”, he asked.

During a meeting, Swamiji told Muthalik that the Iftar Koota would bring peace, brotherhood, tolerance instead of hatred.
