Nigerian national in Manipal arrested for overstaying

Udupi: The Udupi Police on October 16 arrested a Nigerian student in Manipal for overstaying in the country.

The accused, Raji Roqeeb Babatunde (25) from Nigeria was pursuing Masters in Occupational Therapy in Manipal School of Allied Health Sciences.

He came to India on 24 August 2011, completed his graduation in Manipal and was pursuing post-graduation.

His visa expired on 31 December 2016 and from January this year, he has been staying illegally in Manipal without valid documents.

On Monday, Raji was arrested under the Foreigners Act.

He was later produced in the court which sent him to judicial custody till October 31.
