Navayuga Company workers protest against non-payment of salary

Udupi: Over 200 workers of Navayuga company staged protest in front of the company gate demanding clearance of their salary dues.

The protesters said that they have not been paid salary over the last five months and their pleas in the past have fallen on deaf ears.

During protests in the past, the company officials had promised to do the needful, but they have failed to meet the demands of the workers.

The protesters alleged that workers who sought salary for medical treatment were sent back by the company.

As many as five hundred people, hailing from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh work for the company and these workers say that they have been left in lurch as they have to send money back home to sustain their families.

In regard to the payment of wages for the workers, the company official Bhaskar told media persons that “due to some unavoidable circumstances the payment was not made and we are going to deposit the salary in the bank by Monday. “
