Udupi: An all-India level “Dharm Sansad”, a religious parliament will be conducted by Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) in Udupi from November 24 to 26, said VHP Organising Secretary.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Hotel Ocean Pearl here, he the national level religious leaders i.e, seers would participate in the event. Discussion will be held on issues such as protection of cows, religious conversion, Ram Janmabhoomi and untouchability etc., during the three-day event.
Prominent VHP leaders like Mohan Bhagwat, Raghav Reddy, Praveen Togadia and others will participate in the religious parliament which is likely to have a gathering of over 2000 people. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Matt, on whose suggestion the religious parliament is being organised in Udupi, will be present as guest, he said.
Regarding the unrest in Dakshina Kannada district, he said since the time Siddaramaiah had taken over as chief minister of the state, the communal riots had increased. He is directly or indirectly supporting the killing of Hindu leaders, he alleged. “Associations like PFI and SDPI should be banned and leaders should be arrested. Despite continuous attack on Hindus in the state, police are unable to book the miscreants. Killers of Sharath Madivala are roaming free even after police claim to have clues of murderers. We will hold statewide protests against the killing of innocent Hindus,” he said.
“It is unfortunate that cases are registered against BJP activists Satyajith Surathkal and others. The police have raided their houses in the night without the presence of women police personnel. It is nothing but state government’s pressure to arrest them,” he opined.
“There was no need to take permission for Sharath’s funeral procession. In democracy, protest is our right. The main intention of the state government is to harass the Hindu community and impose sections 307, 308 on Hindu leaders. Siddaramaiah is acting like a dictator. He fears Muslims and is filing cases against the Hindu right wing people,” he alleged.
He said that it was unfortunate that retired police official Kempaiah was sent to Mangaluru. “He has acted as a Congress party agent. Whatsoever, he should not have the right to call meetings or address the gathering”, he opined.
“Hindus are peace loving people and do not attack anyone. Whoever is guilty in murder cases should be sent behind the bars. Conducting peace meeting has no meaning unless the cases are filed. The unrest witnessed in coastal district was for political gains”, he alleged.
Condemning the attack on pilgrims during the Amarnath Yathra in Kashmir, he said that the responsibility of Amarnath pilgrimage should be entrusted to the army. “Pakisthan has faced defeat from India four times. Now they are indulging in stone throwing on Indian soldiers and other terror activities. Our demand is to abolish terror completely in India,” he added.
To a query, he said that during the religious parliament, discussions would be held on establishment of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya only after obtaining legal approval.
Vilas Nayak, District VHP President and leaders Dinesh Mendon and Sunil K R were present during the press meet.
