Gangolli boat mishap: Body of missing fisherman found after two days

Udupi : A fisherman’s body, who died after his fishing boat collided with a rock in the sea near Gangolli coast on September 28, was found yesterday at Kodi Kanyana beach.

Sharath (21), son of Shanker Kundar, a resident of Parampalli Padukere located near Saligrama was the lone fisherman who went missing after his boat collided with a huge rock in adverse weather conditions. The fishermen from another boat jumped into the sea and rescued four out of five fishermen in distress, but could not locate Sharath.

It may be recalled, a group of five fishermen including the deceased went for fishing in the boat at night on September 27 and the incident took place when they were returning to the coast after fishing the next day.

Only Sharath was found missing soon after the accident. After a two day gap, the body of the deceased was found on September 30 in Kodi Kanyana Beach.

Raju Kundapura who was seriously injured in the tragedy is being treated at a private hospital here in Udupi. A case stands registered at Kota police station on the incident.
