Udupi: The NH 66 toll collection is a burning issue in the Udupi district. With protests escalating against the collection of toll, Shobha Karandlaje, MP of Udupi-Chickmagluru has approached the deity Lord Manjunatha of Dharmastala.

A WhatsApp group had targeted Shobha Karandlaje for distancing herself from National Highway 66 toll collection issue. Therefore, inorder to allay plenty of allegations pouring in, the MP commented saying, “I have offered your allegations to Lord Majunatha of Dharmastala and he will answer to it.”

Her comment has drawn flak in the social media saying that the MP was following the path of her senior leaders. There has been plenty of complaints about the serious problems faced by the people of her constituency. With regard to the toll issues, she has been silent and also not able to handle the issues concerning her electorate. Even BJP workers have voiced against the silence of the MP in addressing the toll collection issue.

The social media is questioning the role of Shobha Karandlaje and distinguishing the MP from her electoral opponent Jayaprakash Hegde. The role of Jayaprakash Hegde in addressing the NH issues is more appreciated in the social media.

Now people are criticising Shobha Karandleje for quoting Lord Manjunatha, saying that she was fooling the voters of her constituency by giving evasive statements on her responsibility in solving the burning issue of toll collection.
