Udupi: The ruling Congress Councillors under the leadership of CMC President Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis against the opposition BJP members alleging regular disruption of common meetings. The memorandum was given after the chaos and disruption of a common meeting on August 31.

The memorandum to DC says, “Since four to five months, the BJP members are continuously disrupting the CMC meetings which is painful and of great concern to us. The developmental works are going on very smoothly in all the 35 wards of the CMC which is not wanted by the opposition. In every meeting, the opposition is attacking the president, vice president with loud unconstitutional words.

In today’s incident, the opposition came down to the well of the council and disrupted the proceedings by shouting against the ruling party and creating a ruckus. Yashpal Suvarna and Mahesh Thakoor snatched the mike of the president and snatched the agenda book from commissioner which shows their disrespect to the house.”

On the occasion, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, President; Sandhya Tilakraj, Vice President; Yuvaraj, member; former president of CMC Ramesh Kanchan, Chandrakanth Naik, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Shobha Kakkunje, Celine Karkada and other ruling Congress councillors were present at the DC office.
