Udupi/Bengaluru: The state High Court on Wednesday turned down the bail application of Niranjan Bhat, an accused in the sensational Bhaskar Shetty murder case.
Upholding the prosecution’s arguments that if given bail, the accused may destroy further evidences in the murder case, a single bench court, presided by Justice Ratnakala directed Niranjan Bhat to submit all proofs to the prosecution within a six-month timeframe and file a fresh bail plea in the concerned court.
It may be recalled that the murder, that took place nearly a year ago has been viewed as one of the rarest in the district where in the deceased Bhaskar Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari Shetty along with their son Navaneeth and an astrologer Niranjan Bhat conspired to kill the Udupi-based hotelier over property dispute. The trio are currently lodged in prison while two other co-accused have been granted bail in the case.
Meanwhile, though the CID has taken up the investigations into the case following allegations of the local police colluding with the accused, an additional chargesheet remains to be filed yet.
