Another MLA from coastal region gets parliamentary secretary post

Udupi: Chief minister Siddaramaiah appointed Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj as the parliamentary secretary to the minister of revenue on Novmeber 23. The swearing-in ceremony was held on Monday.

The post is equivalent to the Minister of State rank, he is entitled to salary and allowances under the Karnataka Ministers Salaries and Allowances Act, 1956.

Madhwaraj’s name was suggested in the first list  but it was not approved. He took charge soon after Congress high command approved him for the post.

Siddaramaiah had suggested two to three more names, including MLC from Dharwad Srinivas Mane. His name is likely to be approved shortly.

Apart from Madhwaraj, another MLA from the Dakshina Kannada,  Shakuntala Shetty of Puttur, was sworn-in as parliamentary secretary along with 9 others on November 5. The 9 other parliamentary secretaries are Makabul S Bagavan (Vijapura City constituency), Raju Alagur (Nagathana), Umesh G Jadhav (Chincholi), Doddamani Ramakrishna Shidlingappa (Shirahatti), ChennabasappaSatyappaShivalli (Kundagol), Shakuntala Shetty (Puttur), C Puttarangashetty (Chamarajangar), H P Manjunatha (Hunsur), E Thukaram (Sandur) (all MLAs) and K Govindaraj, MLC.
