Kundapur: A person who serves as a waiter in a newly opened bar at Hattiangady  in Kundapur has been admitted to the hospital in a critical state after he was bit by a snake inside the bar. The incident which took place a few days ago has come to light quite late.

The person  has been identified as Vijaya Shetty. He had joined work as  waiter in the bar located adjacent to the Konkan Railway Road in Hattiangady Gram Panchayat limits just two months ago. It has been learnt that a poisonous snake  bit his right cheeks when  he was on duty in the morning in the bar. As Shetty fell unconscious he was admitted to the Kundapur  Government Hospital by his colleagues. However, it is said as the injection administered to him  had some adverse reaction, he was later rushed to a private hospital where he is presently undergoing treatment in the ICU in a critical state.

Opposition to bar: The inaugural of the bar in the area has however not pleased locals who complain that women feel awkward while passing that way. Moreover as it is located adjacent to the railway road and as the road was much below, there is also a possibility of some casualty, fear locals.

With several Dalit houses also located nearby, locals have urged the  authorities to take steps to close the bar or shift it to some other place.
