Udupi: An FIR has been lodged against constable Sudeer and Mohammed Shamil, on the charges of blackmailing a man by claiming to possess ‘nude’ pictures of his daughter and threatening to release the same to the media.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Superintendent of Police of Udupi P Rajendra Prasad confirmed the reports. He said, “A case has already been filed on the charges of blackmailing on Sudeer and we will arrest him soon, the FIR was lodged late on Monday night.”

He also said that the duo, Sudeer and Mohammed Shamil have been absconding, but the search is on and they will be held.

It was also learnt that on May 1, Sudeer had been also charged in another case of blackmailing by the owner of ‘Selection Centre’ named Mohammed Saleem.

Accordingly Ganja worth 6 lakhs was placed in Saleem’s shop by Sudeer’s aides, soon after which Sudeer came to the shop on the pretext of a raid, and held Saleem and started blackmailing him.

However Saleem was successful in proving that he is innocent and as the con drama unfolded. Sudeer was suspended from duty on the accusation.

In the recent case, the girl’s father gathered courage and  went to the police and complained against Sudeer regarding his  blackmail, which took place in the month of April.

The SP added that the complaint has been lodged against police constable Sudeer along with the girl’s cousin Mohammed Shamil for allegedly blackmailng her father by claiming they had  a ‘bluefilm’ of his daughter.

The complaint dated April 10, 2014 states that police constable called the girl’s father on the phone, claiming he was in the SP’s squad and had received information of his daughter’s ‘pornography’. He said he also had strong evidence about the bluefilm. He moreover also accused  him of running a ‘prostitution racket’. He threatened to arrest them and release the photos to the media. He demanded 50 lakhs for the case to be shut.

The girl’s father had no idea about Mohammed Shamil involvement as he was her cousin and was from the police. Looking for  help, the father approached Shamil,  He reduced the demand to Rs: 25 Lakhs on  on the pretext that he had negotiated a deal with the poice. Shocked by the exorbitant demand by the police, the father said he did not have that much money, but agreed to pay Rs 25 lac. Constable Sudhir and Shameel also asked him to maintain secrecy, it is said.

According to the report the father mortaged his house and managed to arrange Rs 25 lac. Of this, Rs 2 lac was collected by Sudhir and Shamil on April 11, and the rest Rs 23 lac on April 19, although the duo did not surrender any photos or CDs of the bluefilm.

The father in his complaint urged the police to arrest the accused and procure the obscene photos and CDs from them.
