Udupi: The preparations are underway here for the celebration of Sri Krishna Ashtami on Tuesday September 16 and following for Vittla Pindi.
The car street is all decked up with colourful flowers, toys and fancy items for the most jubilant occasion of the district, here at the temple town.
The extravagance of Sri Krishnaleelothsava is cherished by people from different places. ‘Muddu Krishna’ and ‘Rangoli’ competitions will be held today on September 16 as a part of the occasion.
Other competitions and rituals will follow, one such ritual ‘Arghya pradhana’, in which the clay idol of Krishna is offered milk and holy water in the main temple is when the Janmastami commence, after which the celebration continues for days together.
Sri Krishna Jayanti and Sri Krishna Leelothsava was started on September 11 and will end on September 19, at Sri Krishna Mutt. Around Over 1.5 lac Chakkuli and 75,000 Laddus are prepared for the festivity, as an offering.
The car street surrounding Sri Krishna Mutt, has also been decorated with wooden Gopura, for the grand festivities of Vittla Pindi. The Tiger Dance competition also known as the Huli Vesha will be organized for the festivity.
As a part of Sri Krishna Leelothsava, the folk dance programmes and most entertaining ‘Mosaru Kudike’ will be held, moreover a team of men and women will come from Mumbai to perform ‘Mosaru Kudike celebrations at Car Street.
A two-day State level photography contest ‘Tamron Colours off Sri Krishna’ would be held until September 17. More than 8 Lac prizes will be distributed for various competitions.
Like every year, the chanting of bhajans will be held by various bhajan mandals sponsored by Sri Krishna Seva Samiti.
