Karkala: The road leading to the historical monolithic statue of Bahubali in Karkala is in a pathetic condition. Even though the Mahamastakabhisheka of Karkala Bahubali is to be performed in the month of January 2015, the concerned authorities have not improved the road condition. Mainly the road leading from Karkala Ananthashayana to Danasale is filled with potholes. Even though lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the historic place, no action has been taken so far.
The unscientific way of road construction is affecting the commuters. Even the Anekere-Danasale road is not safe for the commuters. After concretisation of the road, drainage which is not well maintained hindering the flow of traffic as well as pedestrians. But even though road repair works leading to this historical place were undertaken, the road returned to its old state within a few months.
Located on top of hillock in Karkala, the idol of Lord Bahubali is most frequently visited by tourists from all communities. The place needs a major improvement in terms of infrastructure such as roads.
