Udupi: Bhagavad-Gita does not support ‘birth based caste system’ instead it says the work (guna karma) be decided based on the virtues and character said the Pejawar seer.

Speaking to media persons at the ‘Gatikotsava’ a convocation ceremony of the Vedic students at Palimaru Gurukul, the seer said the ideologies of Gita and Ramayana should not be limited to Indians only, it should be accepted worldwide as these epics have great values and gives equal importance to both human beings and animals.

Pejawar seer questioned Prof. Bhagavan, who talked about burning copies of Bhagavad-Gita and said that Bhagavad-Gita should not be interpreted wrongly with rigid mentality. Before criticising Gita, it is necessary to understand its contents thoroughly. He called for an open debate on Ramayana and Bhagavad-Gita and said that there is no doubt about the character of Rama and the explanation of Karma in Bhagavad-Gita.

While addressing the students Pejawar seer said that it is necessary to have a Dharma Jagrathi as the number of priests in these area are constantly decreasing. The reason behind this may be the fight between Shaiva and Vyshnava ideologies. It’s high time to understand that Hari and Shankar is one. The God is like water, it take the shape of a vessal in which we keep it.
