On Ambedkar Jayanthi, Koraga Community achievers tie-knot

Udupi: At a function on Ambedkar Jayanthi, a couple Dinaker Kenjur (32) and Sabita Gundmi (29) tied the wedding knot.The couple belong to Scheduled Tribes – Koraga Community. They had both decided to marry nine years ago, but waited until now.

Both the bride and groom are employees of Mangalore University. Gundmi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology and Kenjur is guest lecturer in the Department of Commerce.

Both Gundmi and Kenjur reached their current levels in society with a lot of struggle. While Gundmi is the first person from the community to pass the National Entrance Test (NET) for lectureship conducted by UGC and Kenjur is the first in the community to have done M.Com.

The couple is an inspiration to their community for their education both are childhood friends and are from poor families.
