Karkala: Two men, who were naxalities for several years have come forward to surrender and join the mainstream, recently after a high-level discussion by the government.

Reportedly they have been identified as C M Noor Zulfikar alias Sridhar, a resident of Chitradurga Chennakeshavapura Layout, and Sirimane Nagaraj have taken the initiative and surrendered.

However they have placed several demands in front of the government, and the acknowledgment on the same is still an ambiguity.

The Anti-Naxal Force along with the government has for a long time made the instigations to curb the issue of naxalism in the Western Ghats. The government had proclaimed a reward of Rs one lac on each of the two.

The government had conducted several operations to find the accused Sirimane Nagaraj and C M Noor Zulfikar alias Sridhar on their previous crimes. Handbills showing their pictures were pasted in several public places. A reward of Rs one lac each was announced on their heads.

It is said that for the last few years, they were in hiding without committing any criminal activities.
