Members of Physically challenged federation protest

Udupi: The physically challenged members of Karnataka State Physically Challenged and Parents Federation, Udupi District staged a protest at DC office Manipal on Wednesday, July 23.

The protest was organized demanding to fulfill various needs for the physically challenged people in the society.

The people who suffer from 40% to 75 % of the physical disability should get Rs 3000 per month and the people with more than 75 % disability should be provided Rs: 5000 per month, by the government they urged.

An  Identity card should be provided to all, and this card should be used for concession to travel in the bus and train. Government jobs should be available with concession in the qualifying credentials. Government should help us financially for a self reliable job, the federation pleaded.

A member of the federation 45-year-old Mukambu said “I stay alone still I was given APL card. Anthyodaya Card should be given to us”.

Ramesh Acharya and his wife, resident of Kirimanjeshwara, who were blind urged for a loan as the family struggled from disability.

Venkatesh Koni, Association President; Manjunath Hebbar, District president; Vishal Poojari, Secretary Babu Devadiga; Sujatha and others were present.

A memorandum for the same was given to DC Dr Muddu Mohan. He assured of taking necessary steps.
