Karkala: Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning killed a 22 year old girl here at Kadadabailu in Shirlalu on Monday.
The deceased is identified as Nishmitha(22) who was employed at a cashew factory.
On Monday afternoon lightning struck her and killed her on the spot while her mother Leela Shetty was also injured and has been admitted in the Taluk hospital.
Another localite Samreen Banu (15) also got injured.
Tahshildar Raghavendra, revenue officer R M Naik, village accountant Manjunath visited the spot and offered immediate help to the injured.
