Irked over absence of officials, villagers boycott Gram Sabha

Kundapur :Villagers of Balkur boycotted the Gram Sabha convened on Tuesday July 22 in protest against the absence of the Panchayat Development Officer and other officials at the meeting.

The meeting was scheduled to be held at the Panchayat Auditorium on Tuesday morning. The Panchayat had also duly publicised the meet over loud speakers on Saturday July 19.

But on Tuesday, the PDO Mohammad Aseem had abstained on the grounds that he had to  appear before the court while  other officials excluding Health and Agricultural Department officials too were absent. After a futile wait for the officials till 12 noon, villagers boycotted the meet.

They have also warned that they would boycott even future Gram Sabhas if officials continue to abstain.
