Fire due to gas leak, no casualties

Udupi: Residents have reported hearing explosions moments before a fire broke out at the Vishwas landmark apartment, 1st floor, Kinnimulki on Tuesday March 3.

Reportedly, the reason behind the incident is said to be gas leakage. The owner of the apartment, Antony Suvaris had given it for rent to P. Suresh Kumar.

Around 6 am in the morning Suresh and his family had locked the apartment as they had to go for a Pooja to his wife’s house. Suresh Kumar said that yesterday night he had switched off the gas nob. In the morning he had no work in the kitchen.

He said “I am not sure about the incident and what went wrong”. Suresh further said that total 15 lac valuables were there in that apartment and estimated loss would be of 5lac.

The impact of the blast was such that the window and the door of the apartment broke open; all the rooms were partially damaged.

The blast was scary and the neighbors had to rush out of the apartment, later they informed the fire brigade. There was no causality reported as no one was at home.
