Udupi: “ All the 30 districts in the state would have one-stop crisis centers at their district government hospitals from November 1”, said Dr Amitha Prasad, the president the State Bala Bhavan Society, also the principal secretary of Women and Child Development, Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Department.
She was speaking after handing over a bus to the District Balabhavan sponsored by Infosys Foundation on Sunday October 19.
Dr Amitha Prasad informed that every crisis center at the government hospital would have 1 police station, medical superintendents, 4 women and child welfare department officials and 2 counselors.
She said that the DC is authorized to provide financial assistance from state government. Financial assistance ensured by the State government to the child subjected to sexual crimes will immediately get Rs 10000 as compensation and the DC of respective district is authorised to offer the amount up to Rs one lakh towards the medical expenses which if required could be extended.
Dr Prasad said that there are nearly 30 schemes for the disabled, which have not been utilized. She suggested that each GP should have a mother’s forum to enable the discussion on sexual and other related crimes, she added.
Rs one crore can be sanctioned for remand home, under ICPS scheme, and she advised that a a proposal be sent to her department.
She also said for the kid’s putani train’ Rs 25 to 35 lakh will be given from department and remaining amount can be sought from railway department. She also mentioned that self-defense measures should be taught to every girl students through the Suraksha programme.
