Udupi: The Superintendent of Police Annamalai while addressing the Dalit meeting said instead of reviewing the old cases again and again it will be better to re-open them with a fresh complaint.
SP advised Dalit leaders to prepare a list of the doubtful cases related to them and start with the fresh inquiry and also importance should be given to the B-report.
The discussion entered a high note when it came to the irregularity in the cremation ground given to Dalits at Ucchila, the shifting of the wine shops adjacent to Bhajana Mandali at Dalit colony in Kodankuru and the Illegal stone crushing at Brahmavara cracked many Dalit houses.
The SP assured to take the Ucchila issue to DC and a notice will be issued to shift the wine shop.
Dalit leaders alleged that police are hesitant to book cases under the Dalit Atrocity Act. Dalit women are always subjected to the sexual harassment and atrocities in the society.
The Dalit leaders complained about Kundapur Tahisildar for not listening to their problems. SP said that he would inform about the Tahisildar to the DC.
