Udupi: The Deputy Commissioner Dr R Vishal declared open the three-day annual sports meet of police personnel at the Chandu grounds in Udupi on December 18, Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he exhorted police personnel to take active interest in sports activities in the true competitive spirit. He also opined that sports activities will keep them fit, also help them in discharging their duties efficiently, he added.
Dr R Vishal also informed that a proposal has been sent to the government to allot a land for the police ground including a police training centre.
He said that a full-fledged district stadium is being made that accommodates an indoor badminton court and a athletic track. Soon tennis, football, hockey court and swimming pool will be a reality.
He added that physical health and mental ability is equally important in one’s life. Policemen are one of the essential part of the societies, he said.
He also assured all sort of help including financial assistance to the department.
The Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad said police personnel need self-confidence as the force is responsible for maintaining law and order.
