Manipal: With christmas on the way, at Chaitya Hall in Fortune Inn Valley View, the festivity has already begun.
The annual christmas event “Cake Mixing” was held on Thursday November 26 – wherein a huge plum cake was made by renowned chefs, decorated and bedazzled keeping the season in mind. Meanwhile old carols by Jim Reeves made the atmosphere perfect.
Dr H.S.Ballal, Pro Chancellor Manipal University poured the first bottle of rum into the dry fruits. Dr H Vinod Bhat, Pro Vice Chancellor also was present along with hotel guests and others from the University and Manipal Media.
Brandy and rum were poured on the fruits and mixed. “The mix will be soaked in more wine and brandy in the bakery before it is baked just before Christmas,” said Mr Uday Sharma, General Manager Fortune Inn Valley View.
“This is the traditional way of making Christmas cake,” said Chef Rajeev Bali of FIVV. “To make a perfect Christmas cake, we need to do a lot of planning in advance. All the cut dry fruits should be mixed well, he added.
