Udupi: The CPI (M) organised a protest rally from theTaluk Office to the Clock Tower demanding a corruptionless government on Monday 17, 2014.

H Vital Poojary, district secretary of CPI (M) addressing the gathering after his appointment said that both the State and Centre failed to fulfill the requirements of the common man. Increasing price hike and corruption are causing misery, he added

He said, “a proper system against inflation is a must. Few schemes should be genuinely introduced for the welfare of the poor eg: ration facilities and financial help for homeless”. He also said, “Action to be taken to control communal violence and moral policing and maintain the unity in diversity, as measures to stop violence against women is a must”, he averred.

Labour  and farmers are completely ignored. He demanded pending dearness allowances and assured 3000 rupees pension to the labour class. Development is the requirement of the country but it should not be at the cost of farming and environment.

K Shankar, former district secretary said that Prime Minister is busy with foreign trips and least bothered about the problems faced by the country man.

He added that CPI(M ) appreciate Swachatha Andolan, however it is also important that the government first concentrate on the houses that lack toilets and bathrooms. ‘Cleanliness should start from home first and then go to  the road’ so providing infrastructure to build a toilet for every single house  should be on priority basis”.
