Karkala: A case has been filed against a Bajarang Dal activist in connection with a cattle theft racket busted by the City police near Varnabettu in Kukkundoor on Wednesday September 10.

The accused is one Sathish Poojary a resident of Nitte in Doopadakatte, who is said to be an active member of Bajrang Dal which is known to be at the forefront of the movement to prevent illegal cow slaughter and trafficking.
This interesting aspect of the case, came to light when ASP Annamalai formed a special team to crack the cattle thefts racket in the taluk.
On September 9, a group of seven people had stolen two cows from Bailoor Guru Kripa Nursing Home. The incident was captured on CCTV camera.
Police had collected information regarding Sathish Poojary from Attur Doopadakatte who has been running this business for many years. It is learnt that he used to park vehicles at his house premises, which he used for transporting cattle.
City station officer Kabbal Raj also succeeded in seizing the Scorpio which was used for transporting cows from Bailoor nursing home.
The Bajrang Dal activists had made these thefts a big issue and had given a deadline to the police to nab the culprits.
The news that one of their own is involved has become a hard lump to swallow for the organization.
