Few news channels lost their face after they victimised and questioned Kannada actors during Cauvery dispute, about their social responsibilities when the state was witnessing severe drought. One channel went to an extent of targeting only rocking star Yash, even challenging him to come out in open for a discuss. As retaliation, Yash too had thrown an open challenge to the media to first show their social responsibility.
He issued a statement on facebook, “Let us stop blaming others for our shortcomings and unitedly work towards finding solutions to the problems faced by our farmers. I am willing to walk an extra mile and you should join me in my mission. Give me prime-time slot and we will have a program to solve their issues.I am sure neither public rallies by celebrities nor your programs will solve the issue. So, the program should not be just a lip service for a day, but a major step towards solving their issues. After all, I don’t like to fuel the fire, but to light the lamp of a poor farmer’s house.”
While this battle of words was still on, one of the channels went yet another step ahead and flashed irresponsible headline- ‘Yelliddira Yash’, in context of two Kannada actors drowning in a reservoir while shooting for Duniya Vijaya starrer ‘Masthigudi’. The channel became the butt of jokes with the statement.
Though there was enough discussion about the issue on Facebook, a team from Mangaluru gave a comical touch to the entire issue by bringing out a video named ‘Yelliddira Yash’. The song which was written, composed, sung, filmed and recorded in a single day has been creating lot of buzz on social media and have got thumbs up from the viewers. The song has garnered around 30,000 viewers in 24 hours of its release and every hour over 2,000 viewers are watching the song and have appreciated the young team of Mangaluru.
The song has been written by Arjun Lewis and Dolwyn Mendonca has composed and sung the song. Vivek Gowda has beautifully filmed and edited the song. The song which mocks irresponsible and TRP hungry media channels has been well-received from all corners. The song was made in one single day and the team has also been praised by Sandalwood biggies.
