Tumakuru: In a shocking incident, a woman from Shira village in Tumakuru district has alleged that she was administered medicines for HIV for two consecutive years due to wrong diagnosis of the taluk hospital paramedical and medical staff.
According to the woman, she had visited the Shira government hospital for check up two years ago, when she was pregnant.
After the checkup doctors advised her to abort the foetus stating that she was HIV positive. After the abortion, they started medicines for HIV.
But, recently when she conceived for the second time, she was advised to meet private hospital for better management of the pregnancy. When private hospital staff carried out ELISA test on her, it was found that she was not HIV positive.
According to the victim, she underwent an unbearable experience in last two years due to false lab test report.
Reacting to the issue, DHO Dr. Rangaswamy informed that he will soon send a team of officers to Shira hospital and initiate action against the erring staff.
“It is a rare incident. The victim has not lodged a complaint with us. Still based on the media report, I am sending officers,” he said.
