Tumakuru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah and Power minister D K Shivakumar reviewed the progress of the world’s biggest solar panel project with a capacity of 2000Mw here in the parched Pavagada taluk in Tumakuru on September 28.
During the visit, the CM who is known for his humor, was at his best when he told the JD(S) MLA Timmarayappa in jest ‘do not take credit for the Tungabhadra project because it is our government project’.
The Power minister speaking on the occasion said that 600Mw will be added to the grid by December and the remaining 1400Mw by September 18.
Pavagada was chosen for this landmark project of Karnataka, indeed of the country, because of a combination of various factors, including high sunlight exposure, backwardness of the area, and availability of land.
DKS also tweeted about their visit.
