Tumakuru: A couple who allegedly cheated hundreds of people of crores of rupees in a chit fund business committed suicide here on October 16.
Ravi and his wife Prabhavathi from Koratagere are the deceased. The chit fund company had been facing financial crisis and since the depositors demanded the return of their money, the couple under pressure, ended their lives. The couple had allegedly cheated people of nearly Rs 100 Crore.
The couple was arrested recently and also out on bail after several victims in the chit fund who lost crores of money lodged a complaint at the Koratagere Police Station.
Ravi was a BESCOM employee and was suspended after he was booked for fraud. The couple run the business in Tumakuru, Doddaballapura, Bengaluru and other districts.
