Shivamogga: A cop attached to Shikaripur town police station was suspended from service by Shivamogga Superintendent of police Abhinav Khare after the constable sent messages over whatsapp to his colleagues to launch a massive protest on November 14.
Town police station constable D Y Kiran had circulated a message urging policemen to rebel against the officialdom for the delay in hiking pay scales to policemen and other service benefits on November 14. Irked by the cop’s move, Shivamogga SP passed orders on his suspension citing indiscipline and for setting bad precedent.
Some constables feel the order of suspension is too harsh considering the nature of offence, whereas SP Khare justified the decision stating such matters cannot be aired on social networking sites by those employed in the police department.
At the same time, he warned the rest to adhere to the code of conduct (principle constables agree to adhere while joining police force) to prevent such instances in future.
