Shimoga: Five persons including a police constable who were allegedly trying to sell brown sugar were held by the Anti-rowdy squad of the police here on Saturday January 18.
The police have also seized brown sugar worth Rs 45 lakh from them, when they were selling off drug to college students near Sahyadri College.
The arrested have been identified as Jayakumar, a police constable of Old Town police station, Bhadravathi, Suchith, a resident of Bangalore, wherein Wilson and Chandrakanth, residents of Thirthahalli along with Ashok, a resident of Karkala.
According to the police officials they have received an information of a drug trade at Vidyanagar, where the arrested were trying to sell 400 grams of brown sugar to students.
The police are still investigating the case and the seized brown sugar has been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory for further probe.
