Two women centric films, “Urvi” and “Shuddhi” released on March 17have managed to get good collections besides receiving decent reviews.
Between the two, “Shuddhi” managed to get better ratings from critics. The film directed by Adarsh H Eshwarappa features Lauren Spantano, Niveditha and Amrutha Karagaday in lead roles. The film is about a photo journalist from USA, who comes on a spiritual journey to India and ends up entangled in a killing spree to bring justice to a victim. The latter along with her friend are activists who organise street plays to raise awareness about women’s empowerment.
“Urvi” too got good ratings, however a small percentage of the audience felt that the film is too slow and boring. Starring popular actress like Sruthi Harisharan, Shraddha Srinath and Shweta Pandit, the film has been made by Pradeep Varma. The film is about commercial sex workers and their lives. The performances of the three female leads are the highlight of the film.
However, with Raajkumara slated to hit the screens on March 24, both these films have less than two days to perform well at the box office.
