Raichur: Sameer Desai, from a remote village Antaragange in Raichur district, and Rajnarayan Dutta, from a tiny town in Assam, Bihpuria of Lakhimpur district, are studying in Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology and won the first prize in the State-level IT quiz competition – TCS Tech Bytes, conducted by TCS. The finals were conducted on Tuesday.

This comes at a time when there is a debate on the mother tongue as the medium of instruction in primary classes, two young boys who studied in rural parts of Assam and Karnataka made the cut, setting an example.

The budding engineers defeated several people from various prestigious institutes. The students, who are both fourth semester of Computer Science Engineering, won the Karnataka State-level trophy along with a scholarship of Rs. 75,000 and other gadgets in the IT quiz competition.

They say that the Make in India call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inspired them to find innovative paths in the IT industry.
