Mandya: In an early morning demonic road mishap, three persons, including two of a family from Mysuru, were killed on the spot and another woman sustained serious injuries when the car in which they were travelling to Bengaluru to attend a house warming ceremony was hit by another car coming from Bengaluru side.
It is said, the car coming from Bengaluru side jumped a road divider and rammed into the ill-fated car near Hosabudanur gate between Mandya and Gejjalagere on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway.
The deceased have been identified as Raghunandan Jetty (55), son of Subba Jetty and an Engineer at Mysuru ZP and residing on 10th Cross, Ramanuja Road, his younger sister Sumitra Devi (53), wife of Padmanabha Jetty residing in Nethajinagar and car driver Prakash (25), son of Ningaraju of Kethahalli in T. Narasipur taluk, working for a travel agency in city.
The injured woman, who is being treated at Columbia Asia Hospital in Mysuru after first-aid at Mandya district hospital, has been identified as Mythili, 48, wife of deceased Raghunandan.
It is reported that the tragedy occurred at about 6.30 am when the car (KA-04 MG-3976) jumped a road divider following a reported tyre burst and crashed into the TATA Indigo Car (KA-09 C-1361) in which the unfortunate victims were on their way to Bengaluru to attend the house-warming ceremony of Raghunandan’s another sister.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the car (KA-04 MG-3976), which was also badly damaged in the mishap, are said to have fled the scene.
Mandya Rural Police, who rushed to the accident spot, conducted mahazar before registering a case.
