Swine flu outbreak: Student succumbs to virus

Chamarajanagar: The deadly H1N1 virus took its first toll in Chamarjanagar district, when a girl student succumbed to the dreaded epidemic on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Poornima (22), a resident of Housing Board Colony in the town and a student of an Engineering college here.

Poornima, who fell seriously ill on Feb. 16, was admitted to Mission Hospital in Mysuru, where she was diagnosed positive for H1N1. Despite the treatment, she breathed her last in the hospital yesterday afternoon, it is learnt.

Poornima is said to have contracted the virus during her frequent travel to Mysuru city for project work.
