Chikkamagalur: Santhosh Babu, formerly a DCP of Mangaluru took charge as Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police on Monday, April 27. He addressed the press after taking over as the SP. He said that though he had only visited the district as a tourist once, he would now learn about the district from a different perspective and then plan his actions here.
He stressed that he would give priority on combating Maoist movement in the region after holding discussions with senior police officials and ANF personnel.
He said he wanted to provide citizen friendly policing and to this end, all the phone numbers of the police would be made available to the citizens and there are plans of launching a mobile app soon.
He also assured to hold SC/ST grievances meet every second Saturday where the tribals can voice their complaints fearlessly.
