Piriyapatna: Delay in completion of NH 88 road has irked the commuters and residents as the dust and dirt in the locality is creating environmental hazards.

The Hunsur-Virajpet road connects Kerala state which is filled with potholes. Last year due to the pressure of local leaders and Kodagu MLAs the then BJP government had released Rs 33 crores to construct new roads. The work of the Kalpetta to Anechoukur road was undertaken with great zeal by the contractors but the work was stopped abruptly.

Hundreds of vehicles, pedestrians pass by this national highway which is now full of heavy dust.

Mounds of sand, earth, and chips are stacked along the road making it difficult for the heavy vehicles to negotiate on the road.

So the locals have urged concerned persons to look into this matter and resolve it soon.
