Madikeri: A National level Golf tournament organised by Coorg Golf Links and Women Golf association of India has teed off at Kodagu for the first time.
National Golf players like Smriti Meher, Vani Kapoor, Neha Tripathi, Ashwini Genande and others will be participating in the tournament which is being held at Coorg Golf links ground till September 19.
Golf is always referred as a game of the rich. The three day tournament is organised to encourage students. The special attraction of the tournament is a ‘Golf clinic’ which has been organised to give information regarding the game to children from Virajpet and Gonikoppalu.
While speaking to the mediapersons the All India Golf Association CEO Vivek Sharma, main organiser of the tournament said, “there are 19 national level golf players and they play 10 to 15 national as well as international level tournaments every year. The atmosphere of Kodagu and the availability of ground has helped to organise the tournament. There are also plans to organise more golf tournaments in the district”, he said.
